This is a professional, beautifully laid out magazine that pays well and promptly. Much to my chagrin CW rejected my most recent submission to it, a great story about a young sailing family in the Florida panhandle. It was initially tentatively accepted. I was asked if I had submitted it elsewhere previously, which I had. The first sailing magazine that I submitted it to passed because there was already a story in the pipeline that overlapped the same geographical cruising area. The only reason I'd submitted it there first was that I'd never written for that publication and was inspired to do so by a sailing writer's presentation I attended in the Florida Keys.
Conclusion: If you have a well-written story with strong photos that would work on the pages of Cruising World, submit there first.
