in the topic Introduction and my book in the forum Introduce Yourself

Hallo, I am getting on in years now but thanks to createspace and Amazon I have started to self publish. I have published before under my 'real' name but always felt that a pseudonym might have a better impact. Just google A.B.Wyze and you should find that I am the only one there...I have a blog www.abwyzestoriesforchildren.co.uk  I found this site quite by accident and intend to use it as often as possible. We are all of us in the same boat so why don't we all start rowing together? I am a children's author, born and bred in Northamptonshire England. I now live with my wife of 40 years in Hunstanton Norfolk. An east coast resort that faces WEST.

I have been writing for as long as I can remember. My main output is poetry. I write for adults as well as children but just lately I took up illustrating and began turning my many kid's poems into picture books. I have published 3 of these on amazon so far, along with my one and only BOOK. Fly Pig Fly...

I do believe in my work and I will continue to produce picture books until I run out of material. But I have a hard drive FULL of stories and a head CRAMMED with ideas.

    Thanks for listening.

Createspace on Amazon is a pretty good way to get yourself into print. Of course that is the easy part. If you want to actually sell books it might be wise to change your name to David Walliams or even Katie Price. Publishers are getting lazy now. They simply scour the book sites to see who is selling the most...Life as a writer should be easier, but the opposite is true

Roald Dahl had a strict TIME and PLACE to compose his stories. The difficult thing about being a writer, apart from the loneliness is the lack of feedback. I am sure that I am not the only one to be over critical of my own work. Dahl, to a point had it easy as his books were guaranteed sellers. Once he had broken through that BARRIER, self confidence would always have been high. I rarely have a PLAN when I write a story. I go with the flow as it were. Writer's block can be a problem, I do find it helps to have more than one project running at a time. Editing is something I DO struggle at. Hard to READ and not be drawn into the story. I have to admit that my book Fly Pig Fly was professionally edited, but I still made alterations afterwards. Authors are an odd bunch. Nothing is ever right for them. And when the HIGH comes upon completing a book, the first thing they do when they come down is to plan the next tortuous adventure.  less
